Configuring the Windows Time service to use an external time source in Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2

Go to the Microsoft website to download the cool tool, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816042/en.

Run the utility and agree the licence agreement. You will have to replace the Server1 and Server2  as per your locations, or simply you can assign only one server.

You can search the ntp time servers in the web or go to the link http://www.pool.ntp.org/use.html and assign the pool of ntp servers. If you have your own ntp server assign your server and click next so utility will do the job. Once done restart Windows Time service, I used stop and start as below. Once done you can check the status using – C:\> w32tm /query /status
