I built this server and installed Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V. It is amazing processors core structure for me, look at this….. and It’s running with,

4 x  Intel® Xeon® Processor E74830, 24M Cache, 2.13 GHz and 126GB Memory

I have come across an issue once I received the HP ProLiant DL360G7 server, the server hasn’t got the DVD drive. So I used my 4GB flash memory to copy all the contents from the DVD to USB memory sticky then boot the server using USB. It worked and I could install Sever 2008 R2 sucessfully.

I used my laptop and D drive is DVD drive where I placed my Server 2008 R2 DVD.

I opened the command prompt “Run as administrator”

Make the USB bootable using following command,

c:\> d:\boot\bootsect.exe /NT60 e:

Copy all the contents from Server 2008 R2 DVD to USB memory using following command where drive E: is USB memory.

c:\> xcopy d:\*.* /s /e /f e:\

Hope it will work in Windows 7 as well but I didn’t try.

In addition I used the HP USB key utility for Windows to copy the contents to run HP DVD/CDs, specially SmartStart.

Use the below link to download and create the bootable USB memory stick for server.
